APPEAL OF FIAB to the media and the police

Starting next Monday, September 27, 2010, enters into force the requirement for cyclists to wear reflective vest or harness when they move in the evening from the towns and in all the galleries where they are allowed to transit, even when they are in town.

This rule triggered 60 days after the entry into force of Law 120/2010 of 29 July, which amended the Code of road (DL No. 285 of 1992).

Therefore the Italian Federation Friends of the Bicycle asks

1) to the media to give ample notice, clearly and widely so that all are aware

2) to the Municipal Police and Traffic Police to avoid - at least in the early time - to penalize those unaware of cyclists and to work instead of information.

FIAB its part, the beginning of 2010 has already made available its members through their associations catrifrangente a jacket, and has launched the campaign "the cyclist enlightened"

therefore urges all cyclists to circulate in the evening hours be equipped with lighting and working to always wear a jacket even in urban areas, although not mandatory.
